How often do you visit your local dentist? Monthly, quarterly, half-yearly, or annually?
The importance of a good oral cavity stems from the fact that many diagnostic tests, the passage of food, and speaking are done through this medium. Good oral hygiene has been a neglected aspect in the scope of an average person. Most people live through the pain and discomfort caused by their tooth troubles. A select few go to the doctor for care and treatment.
Tooth hygiene and decay are a rising serious concern among the younger generation, mainly due to their genetically weaker and smaller jaws in addition to an unhealthy lifestyle. One of the most common issues faced by many is tooth decay where the teeth are inflamed and there is a loss of enamel due to the presence of acid-producing Bacteria. The decay is a slow process and gives time for the average person to get their teeth checked and treated, but if untreated it could lead to inflammation, sores, tartar, and gum infections.
Tooth decay is prevented with the addition of fluoride in our toothpaste and saliva in the mouth which repairs the loss of enamel. But using too much toothpaste can also lead to decay and cavities. An early sign of tooth decay is when a white spot appears on the tooth. This is an early indication to get your teeth checked and treated. With the rise of home health care services, it is possible to get such treatment in the comfort of our home with just a single click of a finger.
To prevent such decay,
Oral cancers, Decay, Periodontal diseases, orofacial anomalies, etc. have increased over the last 5 years. Around 3.5 billion people worldwide suffer from oral diseases or ailments with tooth decay being the most common as per the Global Burden of Disease 2019. The major concern for such rising cases of oral distress is an unhealthy lifestyle. The food we eat, smoking tobacco, aerated drinks, alcohol & unhealthy snacking hurt our digestion, oral hygiene, and cardio system.
