The major seasonal infection that spreads across the world due to climatic variations and seasonal changes leads to the Flu. Scientifically called Influenza, it is the most common infection worldwide. Affecting our lungs and nasal cavities that includes chills and body pains with weakness. It is known to be taken mildly and usually treated at home with a routine medication of Paracetamol or ibuprofen, decongestants and vitamins. But in the last 2 years with the onset of covid-19 many patients fail to differentiate between Covid-19 and Common flu, in most cases, people tend to unknowingly become a spreader of covid. Covid-19 and common flu are both contagious and history has shown that both can spread very fast. There are several similar symptoms caused by both the viruses and can cause one to self-treat themselves wrongly. Both diseases share the same symptoms
With the number of covid-19 cases increasing daily worldwide the proper way to self-regulate and be more responsible is to undertake home Covid-19 tests or RTPCR tests by home care services, enabling us to clear any sort of confusion between the infections. Covid-19 infected patients can show symptoms anywhere between 2-14 days after infection and common flu patients show symptoms between 1-4 days after infection, with Covid-19 being more infectious, especially with the Omicron variant.
It is imperative to educate people on the differences and promote testing in cases where symptoms are prolonged and more serious. With the rates of testing going down drastically and easily available homecare services, these tests are available at our doorstep. One must act responsible and carefully analyse the symptoms and take precautions like wearing a mask, washing hands and maintaining distance in both cases be it covid-19 or flu. It is always recommended to consult doctors especially when they are available at your doorstep and follow the correct medication.
With the onset of rains and the coming winter months, it is important to keep warm and be in a neat and healthy environment, with care being taken on what we and our family eat and drink. A few steps can ensure that our health isn’t impacted due to any infection,
